Prompt 5 - Raggdolly

"God, no! Please don't!"
Dirt gathered under her fingernails as she clawed at the ground. Cold, grit and wet slipped under her thin shirt. Rocks caught her skin, digging into the tender flesh of her abdomen as her mass slid along the forest floor. But, as blood trickled and stained the ground she couldn't conceive the pain. The threat of torture filled her brain and blocked other atrocities out until all she could understand were the footfalls of the thing dragging her into the crepuscular thick of trees.
There had always been rumors circulating around her town, legends of creatures stealing away people into the immense cluster of forest. Though, no bodies were ever recovered, no lair ever found. Small gossip of flesh-eating creatures surfaced with no evidence to back up the claims, and they become nothing more than rumors, something laughable to tell children. Legend followed close behind, like the body of that young girl being dragged over the brush.
She screamed and cried and kicked at the thing, but it held no concern for her terror. It didn't care if humans heard. If anyone decided to investigate, there would be twice the meat to consume. But, no one would come. No one would investigate the screams of terror running through the weave of bark and branches. Yes, many heard the girl wail, but none dared to venture to find her. They stood at their doorsteps, clinging to the wooden frames and windows as the sun passed behind the horizon and the night took over their world. Those screams fell into the black, and perhaps they knew at that moment what had happened. The mother fell to the floor in a lost and desolate frenzy as tears rolled down her gaunt face.
The hairy, bipedal thing clicked rhythmically into the emptiness in front of it, keeping its cold grip firm against the human skin. Sharp claws claimed her firm flesh as it began its descent into the base of the tree.
The girl dug into the deep clay, scratching and turning up the topsoil with every grasp. A large rock rolled under her body, skidding across her torso. The mangled bits of flesh there peeled away, exposing her raw tissue. She screamed then, wrapping her fingertips around the protruding, jagged rock. A breath caught in her lungs as she struggled to keep herself on the surface. Her body pulled away from itself. The joints began to pop as the creature pulled the limp human into the underground tunnel.
The girl's fingers released, her limit reached and as her nails angled against the hard surface they began to peel away from her flesh. A scream tore from the deep bowels of her core, and with one last pull she disappeared underneath the base of the tree, swallowed by legend.
